Frontpage increases text size

Hello.

I work in a school and provide support to all the staff and pupils.

1 pupil, who is designing a website as part of her GCSE ICT coursework has
thrown me up a problem that I can't seem to find reason for.

She has created a Template page (DWT) and on it put a layer and made it into
an editable region.

Here's the confusing part.... whatever text she puts into that box at say
font size 8, whenever you goto the Preview of the page, the text size has
increased.
It happens with any text she puts in on the page, the preview will show it
almost double the size.

Why is this?, and more importantly, how can we fix it?

Open Internet Explorer
View->Text Size
Set to Normal


When the student finishes her design I suggest she previews in a browser
(preferably FireFox which is not affected by use of pixels or points for
font sizes as IE is) and then uses the above menu to change the text size to
largest - since she is using layers, the page will probably break.

Hi Ronx. Thanks for your reply.

There is no Firefox on the computers... and school kids are lazy, lol.

When in Frontpage there are tabs at the bottom... Design, Split, Code, and
Preview.
She uses the Design tab obviously to get things put into place and make the
page look how she wants it, but whenever she then clicks onto the Preview
tab, all the text will be larger.
The website itself is not live and is just saved locally into her allocated
disk space.

Then have her use Internet Explorer and don't use preview. Use preview in
browser.

It would behoove you to put Firefox on the computers so you can test for
cross browser compatibility. You may be shocked at what you see. And, keep
in mind, there are a lot of Firefox and alternative browsers in use.

If school kids are lazy, so be it. Then you can choose to accept the bad
looking pages.

Shame on the school for attempting to teach the students how to use a
poor and obsolete program to create web pages.

The solution to the large text is to set the text size in Internet Explorer
to normal as I said earlier. But schools that allow bad habits such as
layers, and do not teach cross browser practises and accessibility ... that
is terrible.
