FrontPage Or ???

I was told by my server host they were no longer going to support FP because
it was being discontinued. Thus I purchased DreamWeaver--which seems like a
mistake. FP made everything so easy. DW makes it so difficult. With FP, if it
was not inherent in FP I could copy and paste it in there and usually get it
to work. With DW, it's a major event to change a font size sometimes.

Does anyone have any other suggestions other than DW as I embarq on building
a new web site? Or should I just stay w/DW and tough it out.

FrontPage 2003 has been replaced by Expression Web. However, support for
FrontPage has *not* been discontinued. You can use it as long as you like.
They most likely are referring to the server extensions.

**Continued support for FrontPage 2003:

Currently, mainstream support will not be retired until 1-13-2009. Extended
support will not be retired until 1-14-2014.

discontinued. Some hosts are continuing to use them, some are not. There

Dreamweaver is excellent for people who know HTML and CSS, or plan to learn,
and want to build professional or professional-level web sites. For
hobbyists, it's probably overkill, and will just cause headaches.

Why not just use HTML and javascript? All the tools you need are free
under shareware.

Hi,
I've only used all versions of Front Page and love it. Even bought Dream
Weaver, took a class and still can't really figure it out. My good friend
just bought Expressions Web and has always used FP as well. She absolutely
loves it more than Front Page. So I suppose I'll try it as well.

FrontPage has been replaced by Expression Web and SharePoint Designer.
Expression Web is aimed at standards compliant web sites, and has
limited support for FrontPage components. SharePoint Designer is aimed
at SharePoint websites, but has more support for FrontPage Components.
Neither program has any support for VML graphics (WordArt, ShapeArt,
TextBoxes and objects created using the Drawing toolbar).

Right, it's for users who want to learn HTML and CSS and the details of web
design. For others, it's usually just frustrating.

Probably because that takes a lot of serious study, and even then, is much
slower than using web page editing software. It's great to be *able* to
hand-code, but usually impractical for anyone who needs to get things done
fairly quickly, whether they're hobbyists or professionals.
