FrontPage saving issue

Hello,

Currently i'm going To File -> Open site. I then type in the url of
the site i want to modify and enter the username and password
successfully to gain access. Now when i change a page it duplicates
the code on the page into 3 duplicate sections. Top and bottom have
broken links and images while the middle piece is how the page should
look. Now if i open the site not through the URL but the actual
physical path, i have no problems when saving.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I need the ability to be able
to Open the site via the URL and edit it.

Thanks

Are you using any FP design time components (shared borders or include pages)

Yes i am using shared borders. Would that cause a major issue when
saving it via the URL?

If using any FP design time components Always only edit any paged by first opening the FP Web/Site in FP

I am opening the site in frontpage but via the url in FP 2003. So i
open site...and in the bar i type in <http://www.whateveritis.com> and
open the site that way once i enter the username and password.
Whenever opening the site in FP 2003 this way and editing a page, it
screws up the page content as described. Is their any supporting
argument from microsoft or anything stating not to open and edit a
page in FP 2003 via a URL when using shared borders or any other FP
design components?

That is the correct way to open the site in FP
And it should not create duplicated content unless the host has never updated the FP SE
See below
- or post a real URL to the site you have having the duplicated content on

There are some bugs in the FP2002 SE related to shared borders & include pages
so make sure your host see & apply all appropriate patches from:

For the Host/Server running the FP2002 SE

For NT server problems on the FP2002 SE see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q298827
For FrontPage Server Extension 2002 Update - see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q317296
and security patch
