In early May, I purchased a new computer running WindowsXP-Home Edition
I then purchased and installed Frontpage2003 upgrade [ upgrade from
frontpage 2000 which was an upgrade from full frontpage 98 ]
I installed from cd's a previously owned copy of "MS Office 2000 small
business" [ from which I use basically Word and Excel only ]
To my knowledge, I do not have a sharepoint server or sharepoint services.
Since the start of May this year, I have been publishing web pages to a new
site/new ISP which has " FrontPage2002 server extensions for Apache"
installed:
I right-click on a file I want to publish and select "publish file".
In the options box which comes up, I select:
"Frontpage or sharepoint services...The remote web server
supports frontpage serve extensions or sharepoint services"
I then enter the URL for the website :
http//:motzgraphics.com/animations.
Up until this a.m. I've been able to publish to this website without any
problems whatsoever.
This morning however, when I tried to publish a page via frontpage from my
hard drive to the on-line web site, I got the following error messages:
[When I tried to use frontpage2003 to open
http://motzgraphics.com/animations]
"server error: cannot open "We803cnf".no such file or folder."
I can go direct to http://motzgraphics.com/animations via my internet
address bar and the established pages are there and working.
[When I tried to use frontpage2003 to open http://motzgraphics.com]
"An error occurred accessing your windows sharepoint services site files.
Authors - if authoring against a webserver, please contact the webmaster for
this services website. Webmasters = please see the servers application event
log for more details.
When I go to http://motzgraphics.com I get only a broken link.
I contacted my ISP tech department which is in the process of removing and
then reinstalling the FrontPage extensions.and re-establishing the web site.
I also have a request in for the content of the event log mentioned in the
error message.
Does anyone know what might have caused the above problem or can someone
tell me what I might have done to make the system think my website was a
sharepoint services site instead of a frontpage extensions site or does this
sound like an ISP problem?
Is there any precaution I can take to avoid such a publishing problem in the
future?
Thanks.
