I have the same problem. I get an error message that frontpg has cause
an error in mfc42.dll. I have gone to Tom's suggest support site but
it doesn't work. The only one that was given to me by my co-workers is
to reformat hard drive. Seems kinda harsh when everything else works.
I have removed office 2000 and reloaded it. I have ran the program to
clean the registry. Any suggestions? I am operating Windows ME.

From what I recall:
This is a C extention file that was most likely replaced with the install
of another application. You need to replace it with a version that works
with your system. This has to be done in dos to the system folder as widows
will not allow the copy of a file while in use. You need to search disks or
internet for newest version that will work. Find version number in
properties of file. Many application installation disks will have their own
version that overwrites the original. Look on all you disks and collect as
many versions as you can.

Stefan greetings. I had a problem with that dll some years ago and was
wondering your opinion on a fix. Would you agree that it would be a good
idea to replce the offending version like I suggested or perhaps my memory
is wrong. I recall a fix to my error was like I indicarted in my post. I was
just thinking I would not want to give bad advise but I didn't see anyone
else with an answer for the problem asked in other posts. Perhaps a
reinstallation has already been performed by the OP.

Replacing the file can't hurt, but it often won't fix a corrupt registry which is what KB 245057 points to
