"Frontside and Backside" selected in document, receive Runtime Err

When in an excel document and I close this document with both the "Frontside"
and "Backside" highlighted (selected), -- when I return to reopen this
document I receive a "runtime" error and cannot access this document.
Recovery of document does not work either. Is this document gone for good?
