Frustration Moving OE6 addresses to Outlook 2003

Very Frustrated

I'm still unable to get my OE6 addresses into Outlook 2003 on a
Windows XP machine. It looks like it should be a no brainer

I've tried three ways as below – none worked.

1. In Outlook
a. Click Import/Export, Mail, Addresses, Rules
b. Click Addresses
c. Click OE6

Result – “0 addresses imported”

2. In OE6
a. Click File | Export | Address Book
b. Select Text file | Export
c. Save File as c:\addresses.csv
d. Export, Save Next
e. Check off desired fields
f. Finish

Result “Error Exporting the Address Book”

3. In OE6
a. Click File | Export | Address Book
b. Select MS Exchange PAB
c. Export

Result: “Windows Address Book is currently unable to perform the
export. Make sure you have a PAB set up in Outlook and that it is set
as your current PAB.”

I'd be happy, if it were the only way, to ere-enter my address book
manually into Outlook Contacts, but even then, a CSV file would let me
get an Excel printout to work from.

What am I doing wrong?

Dialogs do not fit with any current versions I've seen.
Start with the basics. Verify that you have Outlook configured correctly,
especially the Outlook Address Book Service.
Verify that your default Contacts Folder in OE has valid entries.
There is more to your story that you haven't told us.

Thanks for your continued interest. I really feel like a dunce.

I've never used Outlook before, so I've been trying to use common
sense plus the instructions from several MS help sites.

The import I described in step 1 of my last message imports into
Outlook all my OE messages, neatly arranged in the same folder
structure as on my OE6. But no matter how I try, the contacts never
get across.

You made two suggestions:

1. “Verify that your default Contacts Folder in OE has valid
entries.”

The structure of the address book in OE looks fine, with sets of
nested folders, etc. In the past I've successfully exported the OE
address book as a .wab file, and copied it over to other computers.

Despite this, the fact that I can’t even seem to be able to export my
OE to a text file tells me that something is wrong OE.

2. “Verify that you have Outlook configured correctly - especially the
Outlook Address Book Service”.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. I haven’t really done anything to
configure Outlook, since this is the first time I've ever used it.

Nested Folders?
There's a problem.
Only the default folder will be imported from OE.

Let me clarify the OE6 wab nesting. In OE6, if I click on addresses,
here’s what appears:

At the top, “PT’s Contacts”

Immediately beneath, a set of sub-folders, such as “Business”,
“Clients”, “Friends”, “Family”

Each subfolder holds a number of contacts with the usual attributes:
name, address, phone etc..

In order to do a transfer of contacts to Outlook, should I first
remove these OE6 subfolders and put all the contained addresses into
PT’s Contacts?

Again, only the root Contacts Folder will be imported.

That did it. Thanks for your patience.
