ftp sites

i have windows xp home edition.. i noticed today that when trying to save a document that ftp site was one of the folders... can i have my own ftp site... or is this only for professional.. i would love to be able to place large folders or files on an ftp site for others to view.. if i can do this how.. ???

I'm not completely sure, but I don't think XP Home has it. Check in
Control Panel ==> Add or Remove Programs ==> Add or Remove Windows
Components.

In addition, you have to setup access via your ISP. You need to worry
about security of your FTP server, and you need to check if your ISP
allows it.

Your ISP may provide already an ftp server for annonomous use. Check
with them.

Your ISP may provide already space for you to have a personal web page.
Use that space to hold large files. Just post them there, and then your
friends can access via the http protocal via web browser. Simplest
approach, I think.

I believe what you saw was a web folder - and you'll need a web server or
ftp site that supports web folders. (Most FrontPage enabled services do)
