Full Entourage with Office Student / Home Edition

I installed Entrouage 2008 from my ISP (Go Daddy) to work with my MS Exchange Server. I recently purchased Office for Home and Student. I would like to install Word, Excel, and Powerpoint from the Home and Student and keep my current Entourage. When I perform the installation and take only the Excel, PowerPoint, and Word The Mac identity gets corrupted and I need to rebuild the database. I have done multiple installations, installing Entourage after Office and before. I bought it to an Apple Genuius and I was told that the ISP version of Entourage is not compatible with Office 2008.

Hi Bill:

Try this:

1) Perform a full "Remove Office" removal of all versions of Office on the
computer.

2) Delete the Microsoft Office 2004 and Microsoft Office 2008 folders (make
sure you have your email backed up first, because this will delete it).

3) Install Office Home and Student and FULLY update it to the latest
service releases.

4) Install the ISP's version of Entourage.

5) Re-run the updates.

No guarantees, but that should work, provided the ISP's version is 2008.
You can't, of course, run Entourage 2004 using a version 2008 database.

I suspect the issue is that all Microsoft Office products use the Entourage
database to store things (whether Entourage is installed or not...).

However, the version on the CD requires an update before it can read the
database installed by the latest version of Entourage 2008. It is also true
that Entourage 2008 requires an update before it can read the database used
by the other products if they are updated.

All the components on your computer must all the same version and all at the
same update level. If they are, it should work.

the Home & Student Version
