Full file download Office XP

I'm trying to update office XP but I do not have the CD.
I thought I could just download the full file and be done
with it but it still requires the CD. Any advice? Also
could someone tell microsoft that thier download
site/server works about as well as a new version of
Micorsoft OS. (Which means very poorly) Thanks

Hi Lido,

Basically, the MS Installer assumes it will always have access
to the original installation point, be it a network drive or
a CD.

The full (admin) download will *generally* work without the product
CD, but, at any time that the installer detects something needs
'repairing' it will ask for the CD. Common reasons for this include,
a change in Office installation source location (drive), using a
'cleanup' utility that removed cached (saved) files in the Windows\Installer
folder, or running more than one flavor (version) of Office family
apps.

MS Windows Installer (v3) should alleviate some of the CD requests,
but not those where 'it may be broken' is the state detected.
