Full Screen Key Stroke?

J

John Gregory

I thought F11 was universal for a Full Screen throughout Windows
applications. Apparently I'm wrong. I can't find a keystroke to give me a
full screen when in Word 2003. Isn't there one?

By Full Screen do you mean what Word means by Full Screen (maximized, with
no menu or toolbars except a little floating one that says "Close Full
Screen") or just maximized?

Yes.

Clarification: Full screen... not maximize.

There isn't any default keystroke for Full Screen in Word, and F11 is
assigned by default to the Next Field command. You can reassign it if you
want:
- Open the Tools > Customize dialog and click the Keyboard button.
- Note the setting of the "Save changes in" box. For your purposes, it
should be left at "Normal.dot".
- Select the View category.
- Select the ToggleFull command.
- Click in the "Press new shortcut key" box.
- Press F11.
- Click the Assign button and then close the dialogs.

Other Office apps also ignore the "Windows conventions". For example, Excel
has F11 assigned to add a chart sheet -- and it doesn't have a keyboard
reassignment dialog.

I see I can use Alt F1 as the alternative to advance to the next field so
I'll reassign F11.Thanks.
