i was wondering if there's any way to force outlook express to use the
fully qualified domain name when issuing a client "helo" request? our
mail server (which is running postfix version 2 something) is
configured to reject all mail without a fqdn in the helo statement,
and thus i receive the error below when trying to send mail:
The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was
rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was
'(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'test', Account: 'pop.blah.blah.edu',
Server: 'pop.blah.blah.edu', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '504
<BASHFUL>: Helo command rejected: need fully-qualified hostname',
Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 504, Error Number: 0x800CCC79
is there anything i can do on the client side to eliminate this
problem?
thanks

note: i'm running outlook express 6 on winXP professional with all the
service packs/critical updates installed.
