Hi there, at my company we are working serveral years with Project for
Projectmanagement. At this moment I am implementing MS Projectserver 2007 (as
a 9times MS Gold Partner we have to ;-))

I want to divide the organisation in four roles:
- Project manager --> Creating new project, assigning global functions
(example Sharepoint.Net Developer
- Technical coordinator --> Assigning more detailed function (Example
Senior.Sharepoint.net Developer)
- Resourceplanner --> Assigning the person that is available at that time
- Teammember --> person that is planned

What is the best way of doing this?
- By RBS
- By Teamnames in combination with "generic" Teamname resource

Or is there another way of doing this?

And last question:
Is there a way of sync the "note" informatie of Projecttask in Outlook
calendar Item?

Regards

I think you can use the default security Groups in Project Server 2007 for
this purpose. Assign your project managers to the Project Managers group.
Assign your technical coordinators to the Portfolio Managers group. Assign
your resource planners to the Resource Managers group. Assign your team
members to the team members group. Beyond this, you could also set up a
custom enterprise Field called Role that would list the appropriate role for
everyone in the Enterprise Resource Pool. You will need to create a Roles
lookup table to use with this field, of course. If you create this custom
Role field with the lookup table, the data will then be reportable in Data
Analysis views. Just a thought. Hope this helps.

Hello Paul,
The difference between 1&2 are really just a level of granularity with
regard to Generic resource. I would ask whether you are going to maintain
all of the different skill types and then competencies in the skill type? It
seems to me you are looking at each task 3 times to determine the right
resource and that it going to be alot of work. Assuming you are okay with
this I would just use generic resources and then finally actual resources.

The RBS is there to provide a security function and won't impact the above.
