functions

Hi everyone!

Is it possible for an excel sheet with formulas (english) to work on french
excel.
I mean there are lot of functions are not working. ie: =sum() in English and
=somme() in french. I just wonder if there are any magic that we can do it
to just setup a sheet and make it work on the other languages.

Thanks in advance

Hi tsk..., (reply in microsoft.public.excel)
Your subject is not named very well, it should include
something like: Workbook with English Functions needed in French
-- that way you're more likely to attract the attention of someone
who actually works with English and French workbooks.

If you opened your English language workbook directly from a
French version of Excel, my understanding is that the Functions
would change to French. The macros remain in English and are
always in English.

I'd expect you'd work better with newsgroups if you used a real
email address like possibly a "throw away" address that you can
get at hotmail.com or many other places so if it gets too spammy
you drop it for another one. Normally all conversations are in
the newsgroup but occassionally there are exceptions. I'd
certainly suggest using your name so conversations are more
friendly and you are more likely to find your conversations in
the newsgroup archives.
