Funny behavior at opening

I have Win XP Home with Word 2000 and Excel installed. Both programs worked
fine. Then I did something in the Safe Mode and for a few last days, when I
start a Word 2k, first I'm getting a message <Preparing to install> then a
drop down window asking to insert MS Office 2k Disk 1. If I click on
<cancel>, window closes and Word starts and works normally, as far as I can
see. The same happens with Excel.
What's wrong? How to correct it and make my Word and Excel open and function
normally again.?

The first thing I would try is to run detect and repair of office. To run detect and repair go into any of your office applications
go to Help and select detect and repair. Let it run through detect and repair. After it is through try your app's again, does the
installer still come up?

Hi Ilyaz,

It's possible the Windows Installer is unable to update necessary
components due to a limited user account. Try logging on as the
Administrator and allow the Windows Installer to complete

the problem.
