Further adventures in the woes of Word 2002 and envelope printing

Hi, I'm back again with more in my continuing saga of printing
failures. I'd figured out that it had to do with the color cartridge,
thought I might have mine inserted incorrectly, but I was wrong--again.
The cartridge is in as it should be and according to Dell is 71% full.
I tried replacing it with a good black cartridge, which I suppose was
nitwittish. At any rate, it didn't work.

I've had the printer for a year and a half and never changed the color
cartridge. Do they go bad? I tried shaking it up, which also didn't
help.

Thanks for all your help.

They dry out when they don't get regular use, even if full of ink, the spray
nozzles clog.

That said, many printers offer a utility to "prime" the printer by
force-cleaning the jets.

And sometimes you can use a damp cloth to unclog the heads.

Thanks to both of you. I'll search for a prime method on my printer
and/or do the damp cloth cleaning. Then it's off to buy a new one.

On my HP printer, in the DeskJet Toolbox, there is a button to "Clean the
print cartridges." After you do that, I think there is a "deep cleaning"
option.
