fuzzy fonts on screen

Word for OSX includes an "enhancement" that gives depth to fonts on
the screen. Actually, it makes them fuzzy. I once found a way to
disable this and make the fonts appear crisp on the screen. Now I have
an updated version and can't remember how to get the fonts crisp
again. (This is not the font-smoothing option.) Has anyone else
discovered a solution? Thanks!

Word uses the system settings. There's nothing in Word to allow adjustments
to those (and you can't turn it off, either).

Word does not draw its own screen display. The text you see on screen is
drawn by Apple Type Services for Unicode Interface -- ATSUI to you and I.

In Word 2004 they changed the type rendering engine from QuickDraw to ATSUI,
to enable the display of Unicode text. Hence the display will look a little
different in Word 2004.

Hope this helps
