I have copied this formula to an other workbook, but I keep getting #NUMBER
as a message? I have copied the original several times bu cannot get it
working?

error

You need to include the "guess" parameter:
If these #s are in A1:A6, try:
=IRR(A1:A6,-30%)
I get -48.0879%
