games crashes

Every time I try to play PC games, even MS games, my Dell crashes. It's a
Pentium (R) 4 CPU, 2.8 GB w/ 1 GB RAM.
Radeon 300 series Display adaptor, can't find where to see or set Hz or
resolution
Win XP Pro 2002, SP2, althpugh I don't use the PC for anything but gaming.
Have nothing running but Symantec; no cookies allowed.
Can no longer play most games, can never have two running a once (you know,
take a break from a long-playing game like Myst, Civ or Freelancer for a
quick foray into Empire Earth or Spider).

PC locks up, tries to send error report, but it's locked up ...
Have you seen this problem and how did you fix it?

A. This is not an issue for the MS Office forum - you'd be better off with
microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support

B. Another good place is the Dell forums:
http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums (find your system family, then
probably a general hardware topic)
