Ganatt View, End Dates

Questions

(1) When I change to a Gnatt Chart view, certain summary tasks change form a non-italicized black font to a red italicized font. Other summary tasks turn blue. Why is this? Also, why doesn't a bar graph appear for the red summary tasks

(2) When I change the duration of a task, I’d like the start date to change, and the end date to remain the same. How can I do this

Hello Christine,
Ganatt Gnatt views ? Poor Mister Henry L. Gantt ! ;-)

Question 1 : Obviously somebody customized the Gantt Chart: look at Format /
Bar Styles... to understand what is at the origin of these colors. Or also
Format / Bar... if it is a specific custom.

Question 2 : Try the As Late As Possible constraint type : Advanced tab of
the Task Information dialog.

OK Christine,

1. Try Format/Test Styles.
2. You neet to set a Finish No Earlier Than constraint on the appropriate
tasks. Not a recommended technique as your project will lose flexibility
and limit what you can do to manage slippage, etc.

To change Font Colors:
- Format, Text Styles, hope you find a suitable category
- Or Format, Font for selected task fields

For your second question, give the task a constraint of must finish on.

Thanks but this didn't work for me.

1. Format/Bar Styles and Format/Bar don't let me change the font/color of

the task name. (The seem to only control the appearance of the Gnatt bars).

2. I selected Project/Task Information and set the constraint to As Late

As Possible. This changed the finish date of the task to be the same as the
latest finish date in the project. That's not what I want. I'd like to be
able to change the duration of a task and have the start date (and not the
end date) move.
