Can someone tell my why the bar on one task shows up as a sliver while the
bar the next task with the same start date and duration is showing bigger
than the other one? All tasks have the same calendar, all resources have the
same calendar

Hi Terri,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup

It sounds like a summary task created by indenting all the tasks beneath it.
It seems as though you're a beginner - if so I would recommend at least a 2
day introductory course to begin with. Meanwhile, you might like to have a

No I am NOT a beginner - I have been a Project Controls Specialist for over
17 years and am very proficient in Open Plan, Sure Trak, Primavera (up
through 6.1, Contractor and Expedition) and MS Project. You should not
ASSUME what you do not know.

I have never encountered this problem before, my Project Manger wanted a
outage schedule created in MS Project, in case you don't know what an outage
schedule is, all tasks are on the same 7 day 24 hour calendar and all
durations are in hours, on some 8 hour tasks, the bar looks normal but on
some 12 hour tasks the bar looks like a 1 hour task.

Sorry Terri, you're quite right! The assumption I made was that it was a
summary task that you were not recognizing. I did not consider you were
talking about the lengths of the bar rather than height. Obviously I was
wrong! As it's not a summary, then the durations must be being driven by
something else. Does this also occur on other projects? Have you thought
about corruption? Do your Tools/Options.../Calendar settings match the 24/7
settings of your calendar? Do you have Resource or Task calendars? What
version of Project are you using, and which SP?
