Gantt Bar Progress Lines

I require task bars to show progress status relative to the current date line
i.e. not using the tracking lines. This should be driven from bar styles and
field formulas.
Each task has a bar showing start and finsh.

A task in progress (finishing beyond the current date) shows the vertical
current date line through the bar. An narrower bar inside shows the start to
current date.

A task with a % complete input in the task info shows a narrow bar inside,
but short of the end. There is red bar extending from the end of the task to
the current date line because it is overdue.

A task completed on time has a narrow black bar through it terminating at
the end of the task bar.

A task completed by finished late has a black bar extending beyond the end
of the task bar, but stopping before the current date line.

The bar style formatting and VBA for al this is beyond my current
capabilities. I have drawing of how I want this to look, but there is no way
of uploading it to this forum.

Yup!

Accurate updating of a project requires that all incomplete work in the past
should be moved into the future when you think it will be done. All complete
work for future tasks should be moved (by setting actual start) to the past
when it was actually done. A prime reason for this is that when looking at
resource usage, if half of next week's work is actually done, then the
resource is under-allocated. However if next week is comfortably full but
there is 100h of incomplete work in the past, it is impossible to level your
resources accurately. Therefore update accurately and use the Baseline to
show where you are now compared to where you should be. The Tracking Gantt
chart is great for this.

This will also negate the need for your requested extra bars and let you get
more productivity out of Project for less effort!

Many thanks for your reply.
Not quite what I'm looking for...although its probably in there somewhere,
I'm just not familiar enough with the intricacies.

The Tracking Gantt does not appear to show the amount of non-progress, ie if
a task is not started or completed on time, how much that task is overdue at
the current date. Conversely, how much time (not progress) has elapsed on a
task currently in progress. The jagged lines in tracking are not the
representation Im looking for...Im looking for a red bar (a guilt line
instead of white space LOL) extending beyond the end of a task that has not
been finished going to the current date line. As well as a line running along
a task showing the visual proportion of time that has elapsed (so that time
elapsed can be compared with percieved or recorded progress).

Cheers
Paul
