Gantt Chart bar style customization with custom enterprise date fi

Hi,
we use MS Project 2003 (SP3). In MS Professional I want to create a
customized Gantt Chart that displays a symbol on the chart for a given date
that is entered in a custom enterprise date field.

To do this I insert a new line in the Bar styles dialog and select the
enterpise custom date field in the 'From' column but the Gantt Chart does not
display the symbol. When I choose 'Start' as a value for the 'From' field the
symbol is shown. Is this a bug? Or am I missing something here?

Any suggestion is highly appreciated.
