Gantt Chart Viewer

Does anyone know of relatively inexpensive (preferably
free) software for viewing Gantt charts.
In my position I do not use any of the functionality of MS
Project; I only need to view the Gantt chart of a project
file (which is maintained from a licensed workstation) on
the LAN on a daily basis.

You already have the "camera" icon on Project to give you a screen shot
of the Gantt Chart. See if that does the trick for you. You could set
it up so that Project publishes a Gantt chart to the LAN server on a
daily basis for viewing by all via a web browser (or whatever you have
or want to use to view the image).

See the FAQ 16 at http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm#Project Viewer

Also search recent postings on this newsgroup (via
http://groups.google.com) where this same topic has been discussed.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

I use an application from Afinion called "Project on Web Viewer"
(http://www.afinion.com/). This application works exteremely well for us as
we recieve MPP files quite often and need to view them and/or print them
out. However, we do not have the need to manipulate or create our own MPP
files so owning MS Project is not really necessary. Unlike other viewers,
Project on Web Viewer reads the native MPP file so there is no need for the
creator of the MPP file to convert it to another format. While it is not a
free viewer, Project on Web Viewer has met my needs quite well and is very
cost effective (it is better then shelling out the total cost of a full MS
Project license). I would highly recommend it. I hope this helps. Post
back if you have other questions.
