Gantt charts to images

PJ2003. The subject is well covered in this forum but not this aspect. That
is, I think not, so please pardon me if I'm repeating it.

I can copy the Gantt to a gif with the camera button, but running the Gantt
chart report produces a nicer-looking result including legend. I'd like to be
able to capture that to forward to non-PJ holders rather than actually
printing it. Is this straightforward?

What if you "printed" the Gantt to a graphics file (PDF, or GIF, or
whatever) and then used that file ... or used that file as a starter to
edit it with graphics software tools.

Sometimes I've found success at printing a Gantt to a PDF and then when
displaying that in Adobe Reader taking a screen shot of the interesting
portion that would then be pasted into a document. Other than the
initial creation of the Gantt from Project, none of his has much to do
with using Project's tools and functionality. Graphics tools in my
arsenal include Adobe Acrobat, SnagIt, Gimp, PowerPoint, etc.

Thank you for this Rob. The PDFing seems the best result, as when I install
it on the machine, it's a single click to produce the result. I also do
image-editing to show off interesting bits in Word or PowerPoint files.
The Camera option does for a clean quickie screen-grab of the project,
rather than using print-screen to get a rough and ready one that then needs
editing to be useful. The Print Preview is designed to lead to a piece of
paper, it would have been nice for it to be exportable to a graphic file, so
I'll experiment with what you suggested.

Thank you for this Mike. I have looked at the FAQs and viewers, which are
very useful in most circumstances, but many of the recipients of the images I
want to pass on do not themselves need the extra viewer for their normal work
and a graphic is preferred.

No cost option:

Print as you would normally but choose "Microsoft Office Document Image
Writer" as the printer. This will produce a .mdi file which is similar to a
..pdf and can be read by anyone with MS Office.
It is also possible to select any section of the report and "Copy Image" to
paste into other applications.

Nice one Chas, didn't know the MDI option. Every time I get to thinking I'm
pretty clever at these applications someone wakes me up again!
