Gantt quit displaying symbols

I have a Proj2K mpp file that has been in daily use for the past
couple of years by a process that imports data from Access and outputs
Gantt chart gifs via EditCopyPicture. Today, with no change in data
and no changes of any kind to any of the views in the .mpp file, the
Gantts have suddenly stopped displaying the symbols defined in the
Gantt Bar Style of all of the several views involved. A check of the
data in Project shows that all fields are populated as expected, but
the symbols and labels are nonetheless not being displayed.

Does anybody have any suggestions?
