Garbage characters in emails

I keep getting certain emails (not all) which seem to contain nonsense
characters in them. If I forward the message I can read it (it straightens
out), but this didn't always happen so I'm baffled as to what I need to do
to fix it. It doesn't happen on other machines, only my laptop. Got any
ideas?
