general newsgroup problem

I'm trying to do a search in the newgroup for messages.
When I click on the search button and put in cetain
perameters, I keep getting the message:
System error! Please contact the site administrator
Can someone direct me to general newsgroup help so I can
get to someone who can help me with this??? Thanks

Ruthie, i think it is a problem local to your computer. as far as i know,
when i do a swerch it is in the messages i have downloaded from the
newsgroups. At least that is what i think i am searching on. charlie

Hi Ruthie,

The search button in the web interface has been broken as long as I
remember.

Try to use Google instead:
http://www.google.com/advanced_group_search

(specify the newsgroup you want to search in, or "microsoft.public.*" if
you want to search all MS newsgroups)

You can also post from Google, but messages can take a couple of hours to
appear.

Most of us use a news reader like "Outlook Express" for the newsgroups.

Try "groups" at www.google.com the search engine there works well.
