Generic CheckBos

Hi

I would like to know (with the most precisions as possible) for what is the
"Generic" CheckBox useful since MS Project XP in the ressources Options
DialogBox.

Here the comment of the Microsoft Project On-Line Help : Specifies that the
resource is an account of skills required for a task, rather than an actual
resource.

For me this information is not comprehensible and don't explain me exactly
for what she can be useful.
