Generic Resources

This functionality doesn't exist. The "Generic" check
box essentially removes this feature. Use a "real" work
resource as a proxy for a Generic. This is a strange
workaround, but it will allow you to receive e-mail
updates for these resources.

Hi to all - question about generic resources.

When we installed and set up 2002 about a year ago, we

set up the RBS and set up several generic resources. It
was our understanding that if a generic resource were
assigned to a project's task, the Resource manager, based
on the RBS would receive an email notification that their
Generic Resource has been assigned to a task. Similarly,
we understood that the resource manager would receive an
email notification for any work that any of their named
resources have been assigned to.

I have gone in and published the plan and assignments

and these notifications are not occuring. However, for
the named resources, they are getting notifications
relative to have new assignments.

Do we understand the email notifications process and are

we doing something wrong or is our understanding of the
email notification process relative to this not correct?
