Generic work resource and timesheet in Project Server 2007

Alain

I have installed Project Server 2007 B2 TR. I have created a project with
Project Pro. I have assigned different ressources to tasks. In my resource, I
have created a work generic ressource. I also define the timesheet manager
and the default owner assignement for this ressource.
The problem is that I don't know how to create a timesheet for a generic
ressource. I can only create timesheet for me or create a surrogate timesheet
for another work ressource (but not generic).
How can I do this ?

Thanks.
Alain.

Hi Alain,

A Generic resource doesn't have any timesheet in PWA 2003. I think that 2007
is working the same way.
If you want to enter Actual work for such a generic resource, you have to
remove this "Generic" status for that resource in the Enterprise Resource
Pool. (General tab of the Resource Information dialog.)
Make sure that this generic resource doesn't have any Windows acount. The
system will create for this resource a Project server account : its user
name, without any password.
Connect to PWA with this account.

Hope this helps,

Hi Alain,

A generic resource is actually not a real resource, it just acts as a
"placeholder" ( hence the name generic). Therefore it would not make sense to
give timesheet functionality to an "artificial" resource.

A resource will need to be a real resource in order to enter the timesheet.
I hope this make sense. Please let me know if you have further questions
