Genuine Office 2007 question

T

Themis

I recently purchase Office Professional 2007 and ran it on my laptop; I did
all the updates without any problems.

I now ran it on my PC and also did all the updates but I keep getting a
message that I don't have a genuine copy. It's stamped genuine on the discs.
I didn't have any problems with the product key. I just checked to see if all
the updates I did were successful. They were.

Anyone know what's going on?

From where did you get your Genuine Office disc from and which 2007 version is it

T

Themis

I purchased it on-line when it was on sale.

It's Office Professional 2007. It states it's "Version 2007" -- there were 2
discs. I loaded both of them. It's packaged just like all shown on Microsoft
sites.

I'm wondering if I should 'stop payment' on my credit card. I don't want to
do that if there's an error by Microsoft.

Other than a problem I'm having with Outlook on the PC, everything works
fine.

I just did a diagnostic check of my computer and according to Norton it says
"Version 12.0.6425.1000" but I can't find that on the disk itself.

When I open a word document I get a notification from "Microsoft Office
Genuine Advantage" stating that "This copy of Microsot Office is not
genuine." It goes on to say "Please excuse this interruption" and then gives
links to use.

I'll have to check the order but I think I've solved the problem although I
don't know why. I had trouble with Outlook and couldn't figure out how to fix
it. I used the original disk and ran the 'repair' section only. The problems
started not too long after that.

Just for the helluva it, I just now re-ran the install and it completed
successfully. I then opened a document and the message wasn't appearing. I've
now shut that computer down and will see what happens when I re-start.

If you keep getting the message that you don't have a genuine copy
then clearly it must be pirated. Computer messages are never wrong.
You must be dodgy and you are using a dodgy software. Go and buy a
genuine software from Microsoft website or from Amazon.

Huh!!! I posted what may have occurred. I re-ran the set-up disc and now
everything seems to be okay. I think you should check out how many computer
messages are wrong. Whatever the hell happened, it isn't something I did
wrong.

I don't believe I'm "dodgy" -- I purchased a product from what appears to be
a legitimate on-line seller. I made sure I used a credit card just in case
there may be something amiss. I didn't have any problems until I ran "repair"
from the disk. I simply didn't connect the problem with the "repair" and I
would like to know why the "repair" caused the problem.

All updates went fine. It appeared and seems to be the genuine article. Why
it happened after running "repair" is what seems weird.

Ignore this person. The real Shehan Stanley is a MS MVP and a real nice lady. This
person who steals and uses her and many others name is a very well known software
thief and an all around very disturbed person. His name is Patrick Christopher Butts
and uses PC Butts as a posting name when he is not using someone else's.

Thank you for the info. I sort of figured he/she was a troll.

What does have me concerned is that I didn't purchase 2007 from a company I
usually do business with. I found a company that was having a big August sale
and I did check out the name before purchasing. In addition, I figured if it
wasn't legit I could always stop payment on my credit card. This means I have
to get to the truth quickly because there's a time limit for doing so.

I also found on the Microsoft site that if I really did buy a non-approved
disc, I could file a complaint with Microsoft and send the discs to them.
They, in turn, would send me a 'genuine' copy free of charge. I presume I
have to give them all the information on the company I purchased from.

Since I didn't have any problems with originally loading the software I
assumed all was fine. When I have a chance I'm going to go over to the site
that validates the software and see what happens.

I am having the same problem and my software came directly from Dell with my
laptop. It just started about 30 days ago and I have been using this laptop
for several months...
