german filenames

since I upgraded to windows xp professional and ofice
2000 I can't open files with special german characters in
the filename. samples:
Fröhliche weihnacht.xls
Weihnachtsgrüße.doc

Who can xplain me how to fix this problem?
(a friend is using a windows xp professional Notebook and
he can open this files)
