get email folders back after outlook compression tool loses them?

From time to time Outlook and also Outlook express run a folder compressing
too on your email folders. Last time this happened i got a program error
during the compression and now over half of my folders are empty But are in
the mail storage area but as xxx (1).dbx, outlook won't re-import then into
the program. Do you have an answer on how to get them back so I can get my
work and stuff back and use the info again?

PS: I also bought a program that supposedly fixes the DBX files but it
doesn't put the back in the database list of outlook.
