When I try to import a xls file or a csv file by going to get external
data->import after selecting the file to import I get the error message
"microsoft office access can not find the wizard ........."

I have uninstalled and reinstalled as a complete install; i have deleted the
accwiz.dll file and did a repair; i have reregistered mscsv.dll, msexcel.dll,
and accwiz.dll; after each procedure i have restarted the computer. I still
get the same error message when i try to get external data. Thank you for a
solution.

Thank you John. I have downloaded latest and greatest service packs and jet
engine 4.0 and am still not able to run wizards. I have created a new db and
was able to import tables from my old db but not excel or csv. the name line
at top of access database says that it is a access 2000 file format could
this be the problem? Thanks

Looking back at your first post, you say you re-registered "mscsv.dll"
and "msexcel.dll". You should have re-registered
msexcl40.dll (Excel)
mstext40.dll (Text, CSV, tab-delimited))
and maybe
msxbse40.dll (dBase)
mspdox40.dll (Paradox)

thanks for all of your help. I went into the registry and found a lot of
micrrosoft access 2007 trial keys and so deleted them. I installed access
2003 on a different computer and after it asks for activation it works just
fine. This computer does not ask for activation upon first time opening. I
would like any other ideas if possible. How do you reload service pack 2 for
xp when your computer thinks it has it. I ask that because the jet engine
download and the mdac download both say that service pack 2 has these. I am
thinking if I could reinstall service pack 2 it might help.

otherwise it network to this computer from the other.

I'm rather running out of ideas. It might be time to do a really full
re-install of Office 2003, something like

1) Back up your templates and custom settings
2) From Office Setup or Control Panel|Add Remove Programs, remove
Office.
3) Delete any Office 11 folders and registry keys that Setup did not
remove.
4) Restart the computer.
5) Install Office 2003 and Office 2003 SP2.
6) See if it works like this, before installing further Office
updates.

Sorry, can't help with Windows service packs.
