Get External Data in Excel from Access query, tables appear, not .

When I get external data in Excel from Access query, I am able to locate the
datasource, the tables appear, but when I click the "+" to expand the tables
and select the fields, the fields are not listed. When I cancel and try to
use MicroSoft query, I receive the message "can't access table." The
database is set to open as shared, and I have tried moving it from the
network drive to my local drive. I have successfully completed this
procedure in the past with databases on the network drive, but not recently.
