get Messaging interface unkown error when adding or deleting contact

I have office xp
2002 sp3
When I try to delete or add a new contact I get "The
messaging interface has returned an unknown error, if the
policy persist restart outlook" I have restartd Otlook
but get the same error. Any suggestions?
