Get rid Of a database that is lock

H

Heather

I have a database that is no good. I cannot repair it and
no one can get into it. I want to delete it but I
cannot. I have tried to delete the lock first but that
does not work I cannot repair it because it is lock. I
went to the users desk that it is so called locked at and
cannot repair and or delete from that user desk either.
Can anyone tell me how to get rid of it?

THANKS..

There are 3 things you can do:

1. If it's a server, right-click on My Computer, choose Manage, choose
Shared Folders, choose Open Files. Then find and select the file and close
it.
2. Reboot the machine to break the lock and delete the LDB file.
3. Reboot to Safe Mode (F8) and delete the LDB file.

Try repairing after the LDB file is deleted. If it doesn't work, have a look
at Tony Toews' Access Corruption FAQ at:

http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/corruptmdbs.htm

for some suggestions. Unfortunately, some corruption cannot be fixed - you
may need to create a new database, import what can be salvaged, and recreate
the rest.

Although it's a paid service, Peter Miller does an outstanding job of saving
corrupt databases. Try this URL:
