Get rid of popups?

When I¹m editing text, I hate the little ³tool tip² style popups that tell
me over and over that I inserted the text.

I¹m sure it¹s good for something, but it makes me nuts.

How do I turn it off?

Okay, so this is something you don't want to SEE. So use the VIEW
preferences. Turn off ScreenTIPS.
