get rid of space

i have a bunch of letters im sending out and some there
are 2 names and some have 1. For the ones that have 1
name i would like to get rid of the space. is this
possible

<name2>
<addres> 123 test drive
<addres1> fantasy island, NY 08189

Try Word's Help-Mail Merge - "Troubleshoot...."
If unwanted blank lines appear in addresses or similar information, make
sure that Don't print blank lines when data fields are empty is selected
in the Merge dialog box.

Hi Dan,

Exactly what possibilities are available to you depend on
which version of Word you have. But in all versions there
is a "Insert Word Field" button on the mail merge toolbar,
and this has an entry for "If...Then...Else". You can
choose the "name2" field from the list, check if it "is not
empty" and for the "True" condition type in a space.
