Get Rid of the test data

D

Diane

I have been plugging in a ton of test projects & tasks etc to test the
functionality of Project Server, PWA, Prof etc. What is the easiest
(cleanest) way -other than a new install ;-) to remove this data & start
from an empty database?

Do you know if there is an equivalent cleaner tool for PS 2007? Old test
projects still hang around in the Archive database, consuming a lot of space
and clutter up (and confuse) the list of projects when I use the Manage
Categories function.

Thank you.

There is no Project Server 2007 tool needed to delete multiple projects
because of the built-in functionality on the Delete Enterprise Objects page
in PWA. Log into PWA with administrator permissions and then click the
Delete Enterprise Objects link in the Database Management section of the
page. On the Delete Enterprise Objects page, do the following to delete the
projects as needed from the Archive database:

1. Select the Projects, Proposals, and Activities option.
2. Select the "Delete projects only from Archived database" option.
3. Select the checkboxes for the projects you wish to delete (it allows
multiple selections).
4. Click the Delete button.

Hope this helps.

That's right for batch projects deletion, but I'm still searching for
a GUI to delete multiple resource at once...
Would you know such a tool ?

Thanks in advance !

The answer is the same for deleting multiple resources. Navigate to the
Delete Enterprise Objects page in PWA and then select the "Resources and
Users" option. Select the checkboxes for each resource/user you want to
delete. Hope this helps.

Sometimes, I'm feeling a bit idiot :)

Basically, we had built a utility to assign as timesheet manager
another resource, according external ERP data (direct manager);
therefore, deletion of a resource who's also timesheet manager for
another one is forbidden...
I'm trying a bulk edit to reassign a new unique timesheet manager
(myself) to be able to delete my 5800 test resources...

Just hope it will work...

Sorry for this stupid question...

Thanks anyway for your answer !

I reply to myself: it worked just fine; I just had some timeout when
deleting too many resource at once; with standard setup, not possible
to delete more than 500 resource, that goes in queue
