Get rid of tracked changes and comments, once and for all - Is it really possible

Hello everyone,
Get rid of tracked changes and comments, once and for all doesn't work for
me as expected. These change are displayed in ALL my Word documents and it's
really a pain. Is there a way to turn them OFF and remove them from all my
document ? I tried the steps in the document offered in Word Help (listed
in the subject) however, the accept option was not available for whatever
reason.
