Get rid of Word 97/2002 RTF (*.doc) format! thx.

Within the Save As menu in MS Word, the option "Word 97/2002 6.0/95 - RTF
(*.doc)" This format confuses people. Please remove it from future editions.
I have a blind customer who always gets confused as to why this is in the
save as options. Thank you.

I'm afraid that you are unlikely to get this to happen. On the other hand,
it may occur for reasons beyond those you mention.

I don't understand why you want it removed. What has blind got to do with
this options? Do you want all the WordPerfect, Text and other SaveAs options
removed as well? Some applications and some users always use RTF for
portability purposes: I think they would be very upset to lose the function.

Greetings--
Actually, Adam has got a point here.

The problem is twofold. The MS WORD 2003 "Save As" list includes 2 RTF(?)
file formats:

1. RTF Format (*.rtf)
2. Word 97/2002 6.0/95 - RTF (*.doc)

First question: What is the difference between these two RTF file formats?

Second question: Why give the second file format a ".DOC" extension if it
is a RTF file?

A lot of people are confused by this. And it has nothing to do with being
visually impaired!

I agree that giving the RTF format a doc extension was a very silly idea:
but the purpose of doing so is because the Word 97/2002 6.0/95 - RTF isn't
fully compliant or compatible with 'standard RTF'. You don't need to be
'visually impaired' to be confused though.
