Get Too Many Cell Formats when trying to paste data to cell

When trying to paste data to a cell, I get the message Too Many Cell Formats
or No More Cell formats and the window that comes up will not clear nor will
Excel allow the past to cell. Nothing wrong with what I am pasting; fits and
not new type or format, just additional info. Is it trying to tell me I
should start a new workbook? This is the sheet I keep my bank account on and
updare daily.
