Get "#VALUE!" as result using HYPERLINK function

Hi I'm trying to create a hyperlink to this long web address:

http://tex.something.com.au/bin/tex...ntains+'March'+) and+(+hdate.hdate_1+=+13+)

and I get "#VALUE!" as the result when i choose the cell this is written in
as the link location. i.e. =HYPERLINK(A1,"link") give me #VALUE!.

When I try to just add this address as a hyperlink without using the
function it works fine.

Are there values in this string that excel won't allow or am I doing
something else wrong?

XL limits the length of the string in the link_location argument to 255
characters.

Can you shorten your query?

Hi Josh,

When I paste this link into internet explorer 7, the website cannot be
displayed. When I diagnose it using Windows Network Diagnostics, I am getting
the message that windows cannot find the host name "tex.something.com.au"
using DNS
