Getting 2008 Messages Into 2004

Hi all,

I had to remove Office 2008 because it ran too slowly on my computer. I
reinstalled Office 2004 and updated it using AutoUpdate. I can open
Entourage, but it only shows messages from before I installed 2008. How can
I get those messages (about six months¹ worth) into 2004? Most important, of
course, I had stuff to answer in my Inbox, and now I can¹t see it. Anyone
know how to fix this?

You can do this a couple of different ways.

1. Create a custom view for all mail received since you install 08. Drag
that custom view to the desktop as an MBOX file. You can drag that into the
04 version. It will not be in folders. To get by folder, drag each folder to
the desktop as MBOX file.

2. Create a custom view for all mail using date "BEFORE" you installed 08.
Delete this old mail. Now you have only the 08 messages.

A) Use the script Export Folders for MBOX files: Run this script on your
messages: Export folders (this gets subfolders too). The script will fail on
a folder with corruption.

B) Export the data as Entourage archive (.rge) (this is probably the
easiest)

See these movies for dealing with MBOX and .rge files.

Which Inbox? Things to uncheck when mail seems to have disappeared:
