Getting a Table Out of the Margin

I have a small table 2x5 that I want lined up on the margin of the text to
the left. I use left and around properties. The left line of the table is
about one character into the the margin. I don't see to get it lined up on
the boundary of the text. Comments?

What version of Word? The following is for 2003 and prior, for 2007
instruction may differ slightly but the intent will be the same.
This is due to the internal margins set for your table.
Open Table Properties, click the Options button, this displays the cell
margins, the default is usually 0.19cm (or 0.08"), whatever is in the
Left/Right make a note of this, uncheck (if checked) both Allow Spacing
between cells and Automatcially resize to fit centents as these will
interfere with the setting of your table. Ok to come out of the Table Options
dialog.
In the "Indent from left" box, you proabably have 0cm, if so change this to
the figure you noted, i.e. 0.19cm. This will move your table over to align
with the margin, but note that any text in the cells will not now align with
the margin of the text around the table. If you have a Preffered Width, you
may want to adjust this accordingly if the width is important to you layout.
Do a test print with text around and in the table to see if you want the
table or the text in the table to align with the surrounding text. See which
you prefer.
