Getting Active Stencil in Docked Stencil Window?

Does anyone know how to get a hold of the active stencil in a drawing window? The help file says to use the Document Property of a docked stencil Window. I have not been able to get this to work. Does anyone have an example that works? I'm using VB6 and both Visio 2002 and Visio 2003.
