Getting behind on accepting task updates corrupts project file

Yesterday I assigned a task to a resource, who then delegated the task and
the delegate rejected the task.

When I looked in My Tasks, I had 2 tasks to approve, the delegated task and
the rejection of the delegation. I chose to Accept All and then to Update.
My client opened to begin to process the update; but then froze. My PWA
froze too, this went on all night last night without ever completing the
update job.

This morning, I ctrl alt deleted the process and checked the project file
back in and now there is no data in it.

Any ideas on why this happened and how to prevent it in the future?

Gary, I think I'm at SP1, according to what I see in the About MS Project
window. Is that the right place to look?

Well that tells you that the client is SP1. Your server should be the same.
You may very well have corrupted the plan with the conflicting updates. I
suggest that you recover it from a backup.
