I'm using Access 2002 and am trying to export the results of a query to
Excel. The query has 15 fields however when trying to use the Transfer
Spreadsheet command I get error 3190 which states that I am trying to Export
more than 255 fields.

I've ran the query dozens of times at it definitely only generates 15 fields

Anyone had this before ?

I'm no "Access Expert" but I was getting this problem and I solved it by
deleting the query, compacting the db and then recreating the query

Hope this helps

Thanks for the response Simon

I tried doing something similar last year when the problem first arose but
still got the same error message.

In actuality, the problem was with the Excel Export file which had become
corrupted. and would not allow itself to be overwritten. When I deleted the
Excel file and allowed Access to re-create one from scratch, the problem went
away

The bottom line to this is that the error message displayed sent me on a
wild goose chase. A "File corrupted" message would have been more appropriate
and would have saved me heaps of time

Thanks again for the response

George
